Yankee Wahala Hero: Pastor Lee Everett Jr.
Lee is a full-time pastor and a pastor’s chaplain. Lee is Pastor of Mt. Sinai Baptist Church on 123 Bartram Avenue in Lansdowne, PA. He has been in the ministry for the past six years.
Pastor Lee’s philosophy is that members of his congregation apply biblical principles in their daily lives, and that each person is an active presence in the community. By putting this strategy into action, members of his congregation can become a positive influence of change in the lives of others. Mt. Sinai Baptist Church plays a vital role in the local community; making connections in the schools and cleaning up the neighborhood “one block at a time.” As Chaplain, Pastor Lee is a godly presence and an advocate for those who do not have a pastor or a church to call home, and are in need of a temporary pastor.
Pastor Lee has been married for 17 years and is a father of five children. His hobbies are “M&M Monday”, which consists of watching movies and occasional massages. He enjoys heavy weight-lifting and he coaches football at the local high school.
Pastor Lee’s sermons are broadcast on My-Star Radio on Monday mornings at 7:30 am. He got acquainted with the JEKA Team through the My-Star Radio forum and immediately responded to their invitation to act on Yankee Wahala. The JEKA Team realized immediately that it had found a priceless asset: Pastor Lee is a natural actor and very versatile in the range of characters he can play. Apart from that, he is dedicated, dependable, patient, and very, very funny. So far, Pastor Lee has acted in six Yankee Wahala episodes, and the JEKA Team and regular Yankee Wahala listeners want more of Lee-the-actor!
When asked about his experiences as a Yankee Wahala actor, Pastor Lee summed it up as “a delight.” He chuckled as he recalled the recording sessions, especially the blooper moments.
“Although actors may not get the lines in one take, there is no pressure because the errors are edited out. There is a lot of laughter and, Christine and Kezia create a fun atmosphere that I thoroughly enjoy.”
Pastor Lee especially loves that he is given the room to adapt a script to his
personality. He is always fascinated with how the JEKA Team comes up with the story lines. Pastor Lee concludes with this message for to readers:
“If you haven’t checked out Yankee Wahala, do so. Binge on Yankee Wahala, because [the JEKA Team] puts a lot of effort into the show and it has very creative writing.”
Pastor Lee encourages his audience to listen to all Yankee Wahala episodes; especially those with family dynamics, intercultural themes, and those based on traditional and modern contexts.
“There are always valuable lessons to learn in each episode that may be helpful down the road.”
The JEKA Team loves and appreciates you, Pastor Lee!!
