On February 12, 2017, two determined dreamers launched the first Yankee episode, “Social Plague Part I.” It has been a busy, exhilarating ride since.
Yankee Wahala showcases captures the struggles and triumphs of immigrants living in the United States. "Yankee" is Ghanaian slang for America. "Wahala" is a term commonly used in Ghana and parts of Africa. It is used to connote a mess, trouble, or a problem.
Whether short-term or permanent basis, U.S. visitors and immigrants have collections of stories based on their unique experiences. Yankee Wahala is a show that covers the gamut of the funny, bizarre, sad, and at times frustrating experiences that Ghanaian “foreigners” face on a day-to-day basis. The show addresses inter and intra-cultural relationships, politics, immigration policies, romance, school, family…anything that adds “wahala” to lives.
In 2017, JEKA Productions, in collaboration with MyStar Radio produced and aired 44 episodes of Yankee Wahala which constituted Season 1 of Yankee Wahala. After 10 episodes in Season 2 in 2018, JEKA Productions took a new direction with the show. This new direction allowed the team to showcase the other components of JEKA Entertainment (novels, short stories, and video drama). We hope you continue to visit this site and indulge in new Yankee Wahala episodes, listen to podcasts of previously aired episodes, read the latest short story installment, and participate in the games.
